We took Brody to his 2-year-old well visit last week and just a few days ago we took Aiden and Colin. Drumroll:
Brody
35 inches (60th percentile)
25 lbs 14 oz (25th percentile)
Aiden
34.5 inches (40th-ish percentile)
25 lbs 2 oz (10th-ish percentile)
Colin
35 inches (60th percentile)
25 lbs 10.5 oz (25th-ish percentile)
I don't know if I have all of the percentiles right, but long story short-seems like the boys are taking a little after their Da-Da (tall and thin).
They are saying over 25 words:
nose, eyes, hair, ear, ma-ma, da-da, B-B (for our au-pair), car, book, baby, bear, hi, bye-bye, milk, more, ver, si, shoes, uh-oh, dog, bus, eat, no, night-night, yeah, go(go go), banana, home, lily, whereisit, purple, mam-me (for Grammy). Although this is slightly under the "expected" speech at age two (50 words), our Pediatrician is not at all concerned given that they are picking up language, they understand quite a bit, and that they are in a tri-lingual household. That said, I think we are about to have an explosion. Colin is starting to repeat almost everything I say and will combine words if he says them right after I do. He seems to be the verbal leader--as soon as he starts, the other two seem to chime right in. They understand a million times more than they say. They are also learning Turkish and Spanish, but English seems to be dominating.
They have not neglected their gross motor skills either. They climb everything in their path. They love the playground since this allows them to climb freely. They have not jumped yet. (Well, except for on the couch and in their cribs!)
It has been a joyful two years. I won't say it's easy because that would be lying. But, I would not trade it for anything. I have never felt so rewarded from doing anything.
